Toilet training your cat

Have you ever thought of teaching your cat to use the toilet. We know, sounds weird right? But imagine…. no more kitty litter to buy, carry, pour or clean… no more kitty litter boxes around your home… We are on to something now right? Cats are very intelligent creatures that with the right guidance can accomplish a wide array of things. That being said, it is easier to teach a kitten off course, but an older cat can also learn new tricks. A great opportunity to teach your cat is when you are moving into a different space. The same thing with a newly adopted cat. This new house comes with new rules.
Begin by selecting a bathroom in your home that is rarely used by your human family. Place kitty’s litter box next to the toilet. Over the next couple of weeks raise the litter box so your cat can become accustomed to going potty a bit higher up than usual.

Once you have reached toilet level, leave the litter box on top of the seat for a few days. Now begin transitioning to a cat trainer seat with flushable litter. These seats come in various forms and materials. Some examples are: the litter kwitter that comes with several color coded sized seats to increase the size of the hole. Others like the citikitty cat toilet training seat is one big seat and you pop out the pre cut rings to make it bigger. The idea is the same though, first there is only a little hole and lots of litter around it and as the training progresses, the hole becomes bigger and bigger until its just the toilet with a regular human seat.
Now your only job will be popping in to flush the toilet for your cat… though, certain movies have lead us to believe that cats might be able to do that part too! Wouldn’t that be fantastic?

Best of luck to you and your toilet trained cat.
